Shipment Date/Period: March 1995 – December 1999

Problems/Symptoms: Customers have reported failure of certain hardware modules, shipped during the stated period, to pass the Basic Assurance Tests (BATS) incorporated in release 5.17.

Resolution/Issue: Effective with the release of software revision 5.17, stringent assurance tests are now performed at initialization to ensure the integrity of the installed hardware modules. The verification coverage includes the revision of the modules, selected hardware components, and the contents of FPGAs and CPLDs where applicable.

NetGuard Coverage: Users of equipment covered by a NetGuard GP support agreement, which provides hardware support coverage, may return the failed modules for repair or upgrade free of charge. Please report the problem by completing the Hardware Problem Reporting Form available on our web site. Other users interested in repairing or upgrading failed modules are also invited to complete the form and will be contacted by the appropriate technical support personnel.
